He married a woman named Aida Sheppard and I believe he met her in the US but I am not certain. I have discovered the spelling issues you mentioned. I have found two John Thomas Corrin's who came to North America. One in Canada and one in Canada. It is hard to be certain which one but I believe it is the NY one but I could be wrong since I believe he met his wife in Minnesota or Wisconsin. The are in close proximity to Canada. I have to admit...I get excited, impatient and frustrated when I can't figure it out! I probably wouldn't make a good detective. Thank you for your help. I will keep digging. :0)
