Quite a number of Manx went to Colorado when the mining industry in the Island went into depression (from 1870's onwards) - can you find him in the 1880 USA census - I can't see any obvious match in the 1851 or 1861 IoM census but double first names not that common at this period - often if given 2 first names Manx tended to use the middle name thus a John Thomas Corrin might be a John to official records but Thomas to family + friends - your other key records besides the census records are his American naturalisation papers and possibly the passenger arrival lists - all these can be researched better from the USA side.
