John - I understand that the DNA database is probably quite small at present so any findings are very provisional
but do I understand that most Manx Cains have the so called 'Viking gene' indicating a Scandinavian root but there is another group which is more consistent with an Irish root - I'm not sure where the illegitimacy came in unless you have proven lines of descent from the same woman but with two lines having dissimilar genetics (ie they didn't share the same father) - is there any geographic clustering of these two lines?
