John was probably s/o John Starkey + Cath Cain - marr Malew 17871208 but moved to Patrick by birth of 2nd child John - in 1800 John + Cath buy a small croft just outside Peel in Feb 1800 but sell it again in May 1800 (for £8 8s) [SSS German May 1801 #6 + #7] - Cath is buried Patrick 18011128 + leaves will d 26 dec 1801;husb exor;unnamed ch some ua; however I can't find a burial or will for John but he makes a second marr to Jane Kissack Braddan 18020204 then moves to Lezayre by 1807 and is noted as a sailor aged 76 at Dhoon in Maughold in 1841

it is likely that John snr fathered an illeg child on Ellinor watterson (Walker Starkie - bapt Rushen 18010419 - she appears in 1801 presentments

several entries for Starky, starkie etc can be found in Manxnotebook - Patrick Starkie kept a livery stable in Douglas c. 1840 (he was child of 2nd marriage of John snr)
