Just starting to research the branch of my family that comes from the Isle of Man. My great, great, grandfather was William Starkey born in 1823( bapt 1824 at Douglas, Isle of Man) was the son of John Starkey and Esther Watterson (m. 1816, at Braddan). Best I can tell William had three older siblings; John, Thomas and Elizabeth. William was a sailor. William and his wife Mary MacArthur(b.1821 Scotland) appear in the 1851 Canada census for Quebec City and eventually moved to Chicago, IL as they appear on the 1870 and 1880 census.
