since i spoke to averil about julius caesar sayle i have been to the l d s library and found some fiche for deaths at sea 1837 to 1965, numbers are 6137189 to 6137266 and from 1870 onward they give the name, age, vessel and page number for the entry then you can send to the g r o for the certificate, which is what we will do for julius sayle
there are also births at sea and marriages at sea, if there is a l d s library near they may already have these fiche there , you could always phone and ask if they have them
