Re: Alice Emily ?

Hello Liz thank you, I am fine I hope you are too.

I am hoping to find an obituary for Alice Emily after 1911?

You did find for me the obituary of William Henry Cox in 1910 from the Mona's Herald newspaper. It was a short obituary saying that he died at Ballagarey Cottage Marown a silver plater late of Sheffield aged 77 on the 1 November 1910. No mention of a wife or a child. He had a son with his wife Helen, Lionel Cox who died on the 1 November (same as dad) in 1883 in Bangor North Wales aged 4 years. As mentioned I do not believe William and Alice were married nor did the neighbours according to a newspaper report at that time. With regard to the age gap, I don't know about marriage back then so I have no opinion on whether it was usual for a women to marry a man much older than her.

As for Helen Cox she is alive and well in London on the 1901 census with her other son, stated as a widow.

I think that without a date of death for Alice Emily or even a surname an obituary will be difficult to search for, so Liz for the time being I will wait to see if the newspapers go online.

I did ask a favour back last year regarding looking for a will of a John Brotherton Cox 1909, he died on the mainland but had property on the Isle of Man. I don't know if you would be able to look at that for me please, you said at the time that your daughter would take her laptop to the library. I can email you the details again if you want.

All the best
Ewan
