Hi Frances
Sorry to belabour this point, but I am hoping to obtain copies of two wills from the general registry; one for James Kermode and the other for Sarah Jane (Kermode) Cowin, both died in Lonan in 1922. I have reviewed the fees schedule for the GRO e.g. photocopying costs, but for one not on the Isle, and with only the date of death/burial available (and not knowing whether a will even exists) wondering if you could advise what the process might be in pursuing a) detemining whether a will(s) exist and b) if so obtaining a copy? With a two step process would one have to apply first to have a search conducted and then apply to have a copy made. If this has to be done via snail mail, it could take some time. Or does one have to hire a person to do the search and get the copy?
