I hadn't thought it through very far. It was just the idea of getting stuff fixed on CDs in order to preserve it. Making them available followed after. Maybe Ian (or ?) could make back-up copies on cd periodically as he is the one receiving the material. Perhaps these could be made available to whoever with a charge to cover his costs. I don't know really. From the recent thread concerning Brian Lawson's website the survival of these valuable databases seemed very precarious and vulnerable, and distributable CDs seemed to me to be a way of making sure the information stayed intact. And more preservable/retrievable if multiple copies are spread around the globe, rather than residing with one person or computer!
