I would recommend that you make an effort to track down and interview living relatives, and try to find your ancestral home/s.Attend a meeting of the Family History Socoety (ideally the annual exhibition in September.) The records will wait, and will be accessible on line in the distant future,
However, generations pass away, and the population of the Island becomes ever more inter-mixed. Before long, mamy of the old farmhouses and cottages will either have been demolished, or altered beyond all recognition. My most memorable episodes of family history are meetings, visits, re-unions, not moments of discovery in microfilm booths.
Just a different angle to think about.
