Thank you Frances, that makes sense. I think I've seen 20yo apprentices, so a "youth" could be that old.
One of the parents, Evan Gelling, left a Braddan will in 1818 (indexed "Huan Gelling")as did his widow Ann Gelling als Hampton in 1822, so that should help. If son Edward is mentioned, he's likely the mariner and if not he's likely the youth burial.
The other parents Thomas Gelling & Isabel Crain, md 8 Nov 1763 German are more mysterious and I can't find Thomas at all. Isabel was buried 1809 Braddan but no will.
