Donna, you are right that Robert's parentage isn't truly known - it is very difficult in Maughold/Ramsey to trace for certain the numerous same-name Christian families, unless for example there is a will/decree naming siblings or other relatives as supervisors, or (e.g.) a parent's will saying son Robert in Foxdale ... but even then there were two, as you discovered! With his marriage record and censuses there can be "most likely". Pre-those, it is even harder.
