Did you see my second message yesterday where I wrote about the censuses? There is only one way to be more confident that you have the right Robert Christian from Maughold, and that is to look up his marriage record in the MM which should have been step 1 before looking for his father in earlier records.

He married Catharine FARGHER 1 Nov.1856 Kirk German (extracted record IGI) and as you know this record will show his father's name and occupation. (Her name therefore IS important, and easily found from their children's bapts.)

Would you please let us know on the BB whether he was Thomas Christian, weaver, residence Maughold?

All earlier research is pointless without having first established this.
