When I visited Douglas with my parents two or three times in my teens we had no idea Dad and I had ancestors from the Island.
(He was an Ellis and his gt gt grandad Lister William Ellis was born in Cumberland, but moved to the Isle of Man and married Eliza Clark in Braddan, Middle, Isle of Man on 23 Sep 1842 I believe and they lived for a while in Onchan, where they had my gt gt grandad Graham Lister Ellis before moving back to northwest England.)
