Thanks for this Sue. Thomas Craine is my 2x great grandfather. Last October we visited Geraldton in Western Australia to see where he ended up. It was a wonderful experience to see where he farmed after getting his ticket of leave and to visit the cemetery where he is buried. Most wonderful of all was a small scrap of paper left at the local mill asking the miller to pay one of his workmen and signed by Thomas Craine. He was just your average agricultural labourer - didn't do anything spectacular - just survived it all and added 11 children and their offspring to the local population but it was intriguing to think how he felt in that huge land coming from such a tiny island as the Isle of Man. We really hadn't appreciated the size of the country till we got there. I now have lots of info on Thomas, his journey on the Norwood and his life in Australia.
