Just read in the iomfhs 'journal' about a John Kneen (1852 - 1958) being christened at age 7 & in the tradition of the time that was when he got his first boy's suit. I had no idea that christenings would take place when a child was so old. When I've seen chr dates, I've assumed they were a few months after the actual birth & so I've thought the child's birth was more or less the same year as the christening. Were these late christenings common ? Thanks
