Diana - to find the children of a particular couple in the IGI, you get the screen where "International Genealogical Index" is highlighted down the bar on the left of the screen. Then you leave blank the "first name", "last name", "spouse" boxes on the left, and you fill in the "father/last name/mother/last name" on the right. Then fill in year/year range (leave "event" blank). Then British Isles/Isle of Man. Search. After you've looked individually at the entries which have come up (I copy and paste the list into a temporary email draft, and also the individual entries, to scrutinise later), then use back arrow and delete mother's surname and search again. Look through each one and find the entries which look as though they belong to the family you're investigating, and copy. At the same time, get some idea of the other families which were producing children in the same time frame from the same "father's name/mother's christian name" so that when you encounter them in census searches, you can recognise who they are and eliminate that particular family.
Hope that helps. Happy searching !
