Thank you Averil. The identification of the John Looneys in the land transactions is of course confusing as you know. The John Looney junior 1745 son of John Looney senior & Margaret Kelvie referred to in the Deed of sale 22May 1775 becomes John Looney senior in the sale of BallaGilley in 1802, and his son then becomes the new John Looney. Really I just hope that when we finally identify the father of John Looney the husband of Margaret Kelvie, that we find that he has a different Christian name- something like Archimedes Looney would be most appreciated! In my most immediate family line there were three generations of Robert Looney!
