Thanks KayN & Mary. Accessing WWI records are no problem on my subscription to Ancestry.co.uk. It was because you wrote WWII in the Subject heading (KayN), saying that free access was being given to military records on Ancestry.com that I tried to find these for WWII, but no luck I'm afraid. Sometimes they allow special access to one part of the world, but not to other countries. I can't even find WWII records listed, other than for a few specialised areas (e.g. casualties & prisoners of war).
