That's quite persuasive. Ann Scott - the eldest child of Alfred and Margaret Scott (nee Creegan) was born in 1867 (according to the 1881 Barrow census), though the place of birth is given as Douglas. Strangely, by 1891, Alfred and Margaret Scott of Lime Street are recorded as being born in Barton Lincolnshire, and are 3 years younger!
Nevertheless it looks like the same family. In 1891, their daughter Mary Jane Scott's birthplace has changed from Douglas to Port Erin.
Perhaps the parents were trying to cover up the illegitimate birth by giving inaccurate details?
