I was told by a Great Aunt that her Grandmother (my Great Great Grandmother) Eleanor Jane (nee Callow) was related to Hall Caine. Eleanor Jane's mother was Eleanor Callow (nee Cain) so I assume that is the connection. The name Cain was carried forward by Eleanor Jane - one of her sons was named John Cain Entwistle (Eleanor Jane's married name).
In the 1841 Census Ellen (referred to as Elinor) was given Age 40. Her children were 9, 7 and 5 which means it is unlikely she was much older than that. As you are aware ages were rounded in 1841 so the range could be 36 to 44.
