Hi

I'm looking for John James Callister. He married Louisa Jane Caine, daughter of John Caine & Eliza Creer, 8 Feb 1872, German. I know he was in Braddan 1891/1901, working in the mills, and Douglas 1911, working as a docker. Earlier he was a fisherman based in Peel. I have possible matches for him with the fishing fleet in 1871/81, but I'm having trouble tracking him down before that. John was born in 1846 and says on the census returns that he came from German, but the only John Callister in the 1851 census who matches was born in Braddan, son of William Callister, born Santon, & Margaret, born Braddan. Both William and Margaret then disapear from the record. I can find only the one match for John Callister in the 1861 census, but he's said to be born in 1845 and is living with his grandmother Margt Skelly, his brothers Walter & Beecher, and sister Esther. Does anybody know if John James Callister born 1846 died 1922 is Wm and Margt's son? Was Margt the daughter of Margt Skelly? And was John's place of birth Braddan or German? I ask because John's daughter Eliza Ann was my 2nd great-grandmother and I would like to trace her father's people further.
