Hi,

I agree that it does seem highly unusual, however I do believe that they were married in 1851 (not 1857) as they came to the US, as a married couple, in 1852.

I am one of their descendants, through the Kewley/Myers marriage. Ruth Kewley was my great grandmother. I still have her sewing machine (a treadle).

I would suggest that the transcribed IGI is in error, otherwise there must be two different marriages.
