if he sold land then there must be a record as by law post 1702 all land sales had to be registered - I've started on an index to the approx 15,000 18th century deeds but no Laurance as yet but many more to add - the indices to these North Side Sales and South Side Sales are on mormon microfilm though the actual deeds are only at manx museum - the index will be on my cd rom but if you go to any parish index page click on property records you will get a taster
