Gen. Sam Browne VC was a connection by marriage to my (Scottish) Graham family. His elder brother married gt gt aunt Bessie Graham, daur of Dr James Moore Graham. Their only connection to the IOM was through JMG's brother Dr Edward Smith Graham who retired from the army to the IOM in 1846, and died in Douglas 21 Nov.1847, leaving his "wife, and 3 boys under 5 years of age". Their youngest son was born in the IOM.
Gen. Sam James Browne VC married 1860 Lucy Sherwood and died 1901.
