I also came across some other interesting info on religion on the Isle at Douglas - a John Taylor in the 1840's was supposed to have been a Mormon Preacher in Douglas during the time of October 1840

Apparently John Taylor had a meeting with John Quayle & wife Catherine Killip Quayle and also with Matthias Cowley & wife Anne Quayle Cowley - sometime after wards these families left the Isle for the USA to settle in Utah.
