All I know about my grandad is that he came from the Isle of Man to Barrow in Furness where he worked at the docks building ships I think.
He was a clever man (he spoke 6 languages) and died before I was born in 1965. I think his full name was James Valentine McCreanney.
They had 7 or 8 kids, my dad was born in 1934, he was 2nd youngest.
The youngest kids were evacuated during the war and from what I can gather, the parents split up and the youngest kids were brought up in a catholic orphanage until after the war.
