The marriage of Elizabeth Gawne and James Crix in 1872 on IOM shows on the 1881 census there were 3 children Elizabeth and John and Mary Jane and I have found there to be more. James at the time was most likely at sea. The one I am interested in is John Crix the son born 1874 in Ramsey whom I think may have married twice 1)Margaret Jane Corkish - who died in 1917 and 2) Jessie Lee Shimmin in 1921. I can't find the death of John or his second wife but when my grandfather died on the Island in July 1948 a wreath was sent from "his friend John Crix" - they served together on Ramsey Lifeboats and other vessels and were great friends I am told. The funeral was attended by an R Crix? Not sure where John was at this time as he would have been there if able. Has anyone any knowledge of this Gawne/Crix family please? I also found "lost at sea" in the Ellan Vannin tragedy in 1909 a "Mrs Crix passenger"
I have got most of the BMD Crix info from Brian Lawson's site but there wasn't a death for a female Crix in that year so not sure who this lady was, but it is John that I would like to trace re the date and place of death if at all possible.
