I agree, it can be frustrating to do research from remote locations--we live in the upper peninsula of Michigan, and absolutely NONE of our ancestors on either side are from the area. I depend a great deal on LDS family history library films, and on the generous help of other researchers, and of course, the clues I have found on the internet.

Do you live anywhere near an LDS church? Or could you persuade your local library to enter into an agreement with them so that you could borrow films from Salt Lake City? I know of several small towns in northern Wisconsin which have such an agreement, and their patrons can borrow films just as though the library was an LDS family history center. It might be worth a try.
