He was the son of John CORKILL & Eleanor KELLY. Their other children included:

In the 1861 Maughold Census James E. is 2 yrs old living at Currah Dhoo, Maughold, with his parents John (45 Labourer), & Eleanor (45 of Lonan), sisters Elizabeth (8), Mona (5) and the couple's granddaughter Eleanor CALLOW (10).

This family is not as apparent in the 1881 Census. There is a James E. CORKILL (21) but this James has a father John (69) who is married to an Ann (47). Maybe his father remarried and raised other children. Thomas A. (14), Frederick (12) & George H (11) are listed.
