Sylvia, I'm interested in knowing if your Philip Quayle is related to or perhaps a grandson of David Quayle (1738-1815) and Joney Cannell (1738-1819) of Kirk Michael, who married in 1766. David was the son of William Quayle and Margaret Caine who married in Kirk Michael in 1728. David and Joney had one son named William, baptized in 1779. This William was the only brother of Joney Quayle(also known as Judith, 1774-1845, married Charles Kewley in 1798 in Kirk Braddan). She is my g-g-g-grandmother; her daughter Catharine Kewley married William Gelling in 1841, which is where my surname arises.

There were lots of other Quayles in Kirk Michael, so perhaps this is a longshot.
