Elizabeth Cowley married Thomas Corlett (a customs officer) in 1839 at Maughold Parish Church. Their son, my ggrandfather, John James, was born in 1850. Thomas died 1866 and, some time between 1871 census and 1874, Elizabeth and John James left for England. Elizabeth died in Manchester December 1874.
Although they were under age, the parents of Thomas and Elizabeth were not shown on the marriage certificate. Elizabeth gave her place of birth on each census as Andreas, but there is no record of her birth there. The only births for 1820 were: 25.6.1820 to Thomas Cowley and Catherine Quayle in Marown - or 24.9.1820 to John Cowley and Mary Callister in Kirk Michael.
