William Home Lizars (1788-1859) Scots painter and engraver (son of Daniel Lizars) rejoined business on death of father 1812; worked 61 Princess St, 5 David St and 3 St James St Edinburgh He engraved several other maps and illustrations in other guide books.
The imprint H&D Kerruish refers to a period between March 1848 and May 1849 when the two brothers Hugh and Daniel Kerruish had opened a reading room initially at at 40 Duke Street Douglas but from June 1848 at No 38 Duke Street.
The Map looks rather dated even for 1848 - it is possible that a larger map was included in a de-luxe edition of the guide.
