Hi Sue. I have put this message first, as it would seem to get lost being a tail-on. Firstly, I am descended from Walter Tate, younger brother of Edward Tate, who married Annie Quirk(e).
Edward, b. 1854 in Crank-ny-Greary, and died 1953 in Adelaide, South Australia. His wife, Annie, b. 1859, daughter of James Quirk (1813-1886) and Catherine Margaret Maddrell (1820-1896). Edward and Annie, together with Walter left IOM and arrived in Adelaide in 1883 with son William. Daughter Greta had died before they left. They travelled on "Cicero" as agricultural labourers. Edward died in 1953. I found his grandson Ronald Tate in Adelaide, but Ron died 3 years ago. His brother is still living, but in Melbourne. Please e.mail me privately and we can compare information.
