Re:MI Robert Gelling & Eliz Jones

This set of MI's is HUGE because it means I've put Robert Gelling paper manufacturer into the wrong family. Now I realize he's the one baptized 21 Feb 1802 Braddan, son of John Gelling and Margaret Kewley, who married 28 Jul 1791 Marown. He's NOT the one baptized 5 Dec 1802 Braddan son of Robert Gelling & Anne Kelly of Ballagrawe. So Kay & Jean & I will need to rework this part of the Ballamillaghyn family a little bit.

I think the Paul Gelling in grave #484 will match to the Paul bp 30 Aug 1778 Braddan youngest son of Robert Gelling & Margaret Stevenson (md 9 Feb 1753 Braddan). This burial isn't in the Braddan register nor on Brian's index so he probably died at sea.

Grave #486 should say "John Gelling father of the above" rather than "brother of", and then this John will be the one bp 3 Nov 1771 Braddan son of the same Robert Gelling & Margaret Stevenson. Then Robert in #487 is John's son.

The mention of "Ballaoates" in Robert's MI and in the following burials from the Braddan register that I copied years ago, will help.

Braddan Burials:
Jane Gelling age 15 years (died in the fever) Feb 15 1818.
Ann Gelling sister of the above Jane Gelling age 8 yrs (died in the fever) Feb 16 1818.
[several entries in between, then]
Mr John Gelling (Balla Oates) died in a fever age 46 years Mar 17 1818.

Now I want to know more about Robert Gelling and Margaret Stevenson, to see where they fit in. Margaret was buried 26 Jan 1802 and her will (widow of Balaoates Braddan) mentions son John, son Rob't, 3 dau's Margt Jane & Isabel, and son Paul exec.

Many thanks to Donna for coming up with another gem. Back to the drawing board.
