Hello Peter, I am one of the Grandsons of William Roberts who was the second engineer on the speke at the time of the sinking.
His wife Elsie was left to bring up three daughters during what would have been a bad time with the war, but to also lose her husband and father to her children must have been terrible.
My thoughts go out to all the families who lost loved ones during the war, and particularly to relatives of the crew of the ss speke.
