Would someone be able to write to me about the pronunciation of the word "Manx." I am trying to discover where Mings came from. I know my dad said Irish, Welsh and Scots and I am wondering if when they came to America if they did not speak English and said they were "manx," could it have sounded like "Mings," which now is pronounced like meengs. It could have been m, long i, ngs, which would have ag "x" sound.
