thanks Frances - Got Joseph Skillicorn's father from his marriage certificate (when he married Jane Robertson) as John Skillicorn, Farmer. Only reference to a John Skillicorn I can find is on 1851 IOM census in Onchan where there is a John Skillicorn, aged 60, as a Land Proprietor, born in Onchan with Jane as his wife.
