it tended to be the newcomers to Douglas - the history of St George's is somewhat interesting in that due to debts the yard was not consecrated for some time and also saw several Roman Catholic burials - many of the plots were sold off (thus many burials were of the 'better sort') though there were pauper graves as well as the plot used for 1832 cholera victims. The yard was the nearest to old Douglas but most would still be buried in old Braddan (and post 1840's new Braddan)
