I see your problem with the marriage - I had a look after replying to your original message and couldn't find it either. Yet all children have their birthplaces as Manchester in the 1861 census.
Father Charles not home in 1861 - a Commercial Traveller.

I couldn't find the birth of eldest son Charles on FreeBMD although no.2 appears to be there:

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Edwards Alfred Manchester 8d 98

As I also couldn't find them in the 1851 census perhaps that is a clue - where were they in 1850/51/52? And where was father Charles in 1861? Do you have his age from anywhere?
