I was told that the Deaths added to IGI entries was to prevent Church members creating marriages and descendants from the baptism record of someone who had died young. My experience with the accuracy ranges from full agreement to amazement that anyone could enter a record which shows that someone lived for over 150 years. Like many of the entries on the IGI, they are only as reliable as the research skills and knowledge of whoever added the death.
