My ancestors - the Fanning family appear on the 1911 census in the Isle of Man living at York Road, Douglas. The eldest son Dan married a Manx girl Winifred Crowley in 1918. Their marriage cert shows that Dan was a widower in 1918, this means he married sometime between 1911 and 1918. I have not been able to find any marriage records for a previous marriage. I wondered if anyone knew if he had married on the Isle of Man in this period? He was working as an assistant schoolmaster in 1911. Thanks
