Re: Maddrell
In Response To: Re: Maddrell ()

Hi Karen,

In looking at my Maddrell tree I found a little bit of infromation on your line. My great great great grandmother Ann Maddrell was the sister of James Maddrell, Eunice Maddrell’s grandfather. James and his wife Elizabeth’s son Joseph married Rebecca Kinnish and had 2 daughters:
1. Beatrice Annie b. 1873 St Matthews, Douglas m. Ephraim Garrett 29 Sept 1892 Maughold (shoemaker)
2. Eunice Edith b. 1876 Douglas m. James Thomas Aldis 5 May 1895 Maughold (mariner)
Joseph Maddrell was a mariner and in the 1881 census, he is master of vessel Maria of Douglas in Northumberland and Rebecca, Beatrice and Eunice are at 18 Fort St Onchan. I haven’t found any trace of Joseph after 1881. Rebecca died in 1897 and was buried in Maughold.

The records of Brian Lawson showed the following children:
Children of Beatrice Maddrell and Ephraim Garrett
1. Ephraim Sydney b. 1893 Ramsey
2. Charles Maddrell b. 1895 Ramsey
3. William Joseph b. 1897 Ramsey
4. Alfred Lace b. 1898 Ramsey d. 1899 Maughold aged 4 mths
In the 1901 census: Beatrice, Ephraim & 3 sons lived in Oliver Place Maughold

Children of Eunice Maddrell and James Aldis
1. James Alfred Thomas b. 1896 Ramsey
2. Albert Clucas b. 1898 Ramsey
3. Beatrice Lillian b. 1900 Ramsey d. 1907 Maughold aged 7 (Lillian Beatrice)
In the 1901 census James, Eunice, & 3 children lived in Water St Maughold, Ramsey.

I’d assumed that both sisters had emigrated somewhere as I couldn’t find any more details on the family after 1901.

Hope this helps.

Donna
