EARY more usually spelt Eairy nowadays. There is
a dam there which was built to provide water to
wash the ore from the nearby lead mines at Foxdale
village, so that it was easier to leave "spoil" behind &
only export ore containing good stores of metal.
You will have noticed many had more than one occupation farming & fishing down on the coast or
mining for the husband & " farming "/crofting for the wife
& family.My family was so occupied along East Foxdale
Road leading to the dam. { It's still there---wildfowl etc.}
