The MacCreagh theory is not one I had considered previously but it does seem very plausible - I am profoundly dissatisfied with all other suggestions for the origins of McCrere - Mac Yn Phrir /McBrodr etc - and there is no plausible overlap with any of the more recent Scottish/Irish Clans McCreery, McRerick etc - especiallly as the Creer Y-DNA points increasingly strongly to an Jute/Danish Viking origin - putting the origins of the Manx Creers into Viking times and before family names in general!
