Help wanted please.
I have a John Kneale servant aged 46 born Andreas listed in the 1851 Michael census, together with an Ann Kneale aged 21 years, John Quayle 37 years and farming 60 acres, his wife Jane (Cowley) aged 26 years, Catherine Cowley mother-in-law aged 63 years and widowed, Margaret Kneale a visitor.
Ann listed above appears in the 1841 census aged 11 years and living with the Cowley family; on the 1861 census with the Quayle/Cowley family; and in the 1871 census as Ann Moore, sister in law. Ann Kneale married Thomas Moore in Kirk Michael on 18 Aug. 1870. At the time of Ann's marriage her father is listed as John Kneale, a shepherd; witnesses at the marriage are John Cowley and Robert Moore.
Ann Moore als Kneale and Thomas Moore are buried in Kirk Michael - Kirk Michael Old and New Yards Grave SL 49 "In loving memory of Ann wife of Thomas Moore Barregarrow, Michael, who departed this life June 16th 1905 aged 75 years/also/......."
I am happy with all of the above facts.
I have come up with four possibilities of her father John Kneale who was born around the time frame of 1796.
1. John Kneale chr 3.12.1803 (parents John Kneale and Esther)
2. John Kneale chr 10.4.1796 Kirk Michael (parents Ralph Kneale and Ann Cannell)
3. John Kneale chr 8.12.1805 Andreas (parents Philip Kneale and Margaret Cowley)
4. John Kneale chr. 19.10.1802 Lezayre (Parents John Boyd and Eleanor Kneale)
Entries nos. 1-4 appear as submitted entries only on the IGI.
I would be most grateful if anyone can confirm which of the John Kneale's may be Ann's father; or perhaps come up with any other possibilities.
Many thanks for your patience in reading all of this and hope there may be an outcome to this long standing mystery.
