As we search through the many records delving into the past, the ones that stand out more to me than all the other records, is that of a will.
This document contains a persons instructions and wishes as to how their property and assets are to be distributed after their death and reading through them, it provides a personal insight into what was 'of worth' in those days, whether it be a house, money or even down to a blanket or item of clothing.
So why make a will?
Because it makes sure that your lifetimes assets and possessions are passed on to the people you want and saves arguments between the people you loved.
I regard wills as something personal and therefore precious in its own right. I decided to look at my own will which was done many eons ago and it does need to be updated again.
The making of the will allowed me some peace of mind and comfort and wondered if this was the case then, many tens or hundreds of years ago, as that of today?
So I was wondering, has anyone come across any interesting wills or wills that have interesting clauses attached as I'd like the chance to read them.
Kind regards, Paul
