There were several papers like this in the period before mass adoption of TV - their main function was to give the football results (+ I think other key results such as horse racing) at around 5pm so that people could check their pools coupons - in those days all soccer matches (+ rugby which was my brothers' interest) were on Saturday afternoon (3pm or 2.30pm ? - anyway they were back home by 5.30pm)
