I've just looked in the Wills lists and found that both Dorothy Ellison (1748) and Silvester (1762) have got ready-transcribed wills. Dorothy's shows that her husband's name was Silvester, and that she did indeed have a son named John !

Silvester must have remarried after Dorothy's death. Can't find a marriage entry in Familysearch, but new wife was called Jane.

How do you prove that this was (or wasn't) your John's family ?
