Before I think of presuming anything, especially with names, I thought I'd check here first and confirm one way or another that those christian names called Jas, is short for James?
Speaking about Jas, I found it interesting that in the 1881 census, the 26 year old was resident in the boat Nautilus number 26 and also his occupation was down as a miner, whereas everyone else was a fisherman. (Two jobs?)

I haven't got round to checking and confirming James Wade age 4 born abt 1857 (b Lezayre), (1861 Census) a boarder residing with James & Margaret Wade in Lezayre ; Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 4422; Folio: 65; Page: 12; GSU roll: 543280.
and that of
James Wade age abt 15 in 1856 (b Andreas) (1871 Census) a servant to John and Jane Creer in Andreas. Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 5772; Folio: 170; Page: 11; GSU roll: 895841
Are they all one and the same? (I've still got masses of info to check out, but just wondered if anyone has put this piece of the jigsaw together?
Also reference the boat Nautilus, I was wondering if this is the same one that got sunk Dunkirk, May 29, 1940?
Frances, I saw these boat sites whilst sailing by and might be useful to others as well
